DIY Mānuka Face Mask

DIY Mānuka Face Mask
Posted on

Summer is here in The Far North New Zealand!

Bright red flowers of our Pohutakawa trees light up our beaches like bright Christmas lights while families enjoy the Sun, Sand and Sea during the school holidays.

Whilst playing at the beach is a summer holiday highlight; unfortunately at the end of every beach day my skin often feels dry and weak.

So I whip up this easy silky Manuka Facemask  on a cool summers night to rehydrate and soothe my delicate face skin.

This Face-mask is loaded with Mānuka honey goodness and is easily made with a handful of ingredients you probably already have in your cupboards . Yay 🌟

The liquid part of this mask is Kai Ora Mānuka 80+ MGO Honey, Kai Ora Mānuka & Hemp Oil and Organic Coconut Oil.

There’s lots of honey; it’s a third of the liquid bit. This makes sure you have a mask that goes on a bit like caramel and never dries out fully, keeping it nice and gentle on your skin.

Benefits of Manuka honey
Manuka honey has long been touted as a super-honey, and for good reason.

Its anti-inflammatory effect can decrease local inflammation caused by acne. As an antibacterial, Manuka honey leaves fewer bacteria to infect pores and cause acne.

Benefits of Manuka Oil

Manuka Oil is an effective anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, ant-microbial and anti-inflammatory ingredient.
Perfect for keeping the skin clear helps fight off bacterial growth.

Dry Ingredient is gentle white Kaolin clay, (French green or yellow and / or zeolite are also good options too!) I have tried bentonite in the past but it was quite heavy, so I don’t recommend it.

Anyway, when you bring both liquid and dry ingredients together we’ve got a smooth and silky paste.

Directions: Apply face mask on your delicate pretty face, let it dry for about twenty minutes, and rinse it off.

I find this mask leaves my skin feeling beautifully hydrated and smooth every time, so make sure you give it a try! Xo
