Australians got to experience some of the best New Zealand has to offer when New Zealand born, two-hatted head chef, Peter Gunn was tasked with showcasing some of the best producers and ingredients from New Zealand at the Taste New Zealand dinner in Melbourne.

Peter Gunn originally hails from Porirua, starting his culinary career at a local Chinese takeaway, to now being the Head Chef and Owner at Ides in Melbourne.
New Zealand Trade and Enterprise hosted a dinner at Metropolis on the banks of the South Bank river, with Peter designing a curated menu comprising of New Zealand produce and interwoven with native Australian ingredients.
New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Adern addressed the crowd and shared a story of how she had ties to Australia through her Grandfather, who left Australia to travel the world, to only make it as far as New Zealand before falling in love with a Scotswoman and making New Zealand his home.

Kai Ora CEO Blanche Morrogh was introduced by the lovely Catriona Rowntree, and got up to joke that she had accidentally dressed as a bee in her black and gold outfit, and with the crowd now laughing, she went on to share some of her story, before blessing the evening and dinner with a karakia.
Kai Ora Honey was showcased through a Kanuka Honey & Flaxseed Sourdough that was served with a Kai Ora Mānuka Honey butter.
Delegates were then treated to one of Gunns signature desserts, the black box, which was recently used as a pressure test on MasterChef Australia.
