If you're looking for an immunity booster that's simple and quick then you should try these Honey Ginger Turmeric Shots.
These shots contain a bunch of anti-inflammatory ingredients, and they're super simple to make, which is always a big bonus in the mornings when you're still groggy and half-asleep.
Why should I try Honey Ginger Shots
Made from a powerful combination of fresh ginger, Manuka Honey, fresh orange juice, and turmeric, this is a powerhouse of wellness to start off your morning.
We love these ginger shots as they're an inexpensive way to boost your immunity, whilst also helping to aid your digestion and give your body a big dose of anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects.
Ginger shots are known to support the digestive system, boost immunity, help fight harmful free radicals, and lower your blood pressure - what's not to love. And these get a boost of Vitamin C from the oranges and are then levelled up with our mānuka honey, which is known for its antiviral, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.
Do I need a juicer to make Honey Ginger Immunity Shots
You don't even need a juicer to make these shots (although you could do it in one!), not everyone has a blender so we've come up with a way to make them in a blender, so everyone can have a go. Plus blenders are a pain to clean, and blenders practically clean themselves, so that's another bonus.
How often should I have a Honey Ginger Immunity Shot?
We recommend taking one shot daily (if you take more than one it could give you heartburn), and most people feel the benefits by taking it first thing in the morning on an empty stomach.
We enjoy taking one each morning to help ward off sickness and to help settle our puku's for the day.
How To Store Honey Ginger Shots
Storage of any kind of fresh juice, primarily because they are best when served fresh. This is when you will really be able to maximize on the potential health benefits, which can, unfortunately, fade over time in the fridge.
If you want to make a few ginger shots at once, either for yourself or to share with friends and family, I recommend storing them in airtight glass jars. When stored properly, they will stay fresh in the fridge for up to 5 days.
Ingredients (4 shots)
1 ginger root, chopped (around 1/2 cup chopped)
2 oranges, chopped, including rind/skin
½ tsp turmeric
pinch black pepper
1 lime, juiced
1 Tablespoons of Mānuka Honey (or adjust if you like it sweeter)
2 cups coconut water or filtered water
Place all ingredients in a blender and pulse until thoroughly mixed.
Then if needed, you can strain through a fine mesh sieve or a piece of cheesecloth.
Then pour into a glass jar and store in the fridge for up to 5 days. Although, I prefer making them fresh daily and having them with my whanau before breakfast.
